Hello City Council members,
My name is Sherry Stack and I have lived in Unincorporated Menlo Park for 52 years. I shop regularly in downtown Menlo Park and always have.
Your idea to replace our downtown with high rise housing is something to which I strongly object.
1) The traffic caused by increased high density dwellings will make Menlo Parks streets blocked and congested for mornings and evenings. Come watch Santa Cruz off of Sand Hill Road in the evening and see how much traffic is clogged going toward downtown these days. With all of the new housing along El Caino Real, we have a huge problem with traffic flow from the El Camino direction as well.
2) I dont know how I will park downtown with the parking lots gone. The residents of these big buildings will be taking up the very limited space around downtown. It is already hard to park downtown. I am elderly and walking distances to park will be increasingly difficult for me and my elderly neighbors.
3) You should consider alternate places to put this housing that will have less impact on businesses that are already struggling with high rents.
4) This will so so drastically alter the very nature of our sweet little downtown, please find another place.
