Honorable Menlo Park City Council,
I support building new affordable homes downtown and I urge you to do the same on January 14th.
Ive lived in Menlo Park for 40 years. As far as I can recall, downtown merchants have resisted every change. Median planting strips. Reducing Santa Cruz to 2 lanes. Street trees. Street dining. They have been wrong on all fronts - those changes all made
Menlo Park more livable, AND more attractive to visitors.
Downtown housing makes sense both to increase downtown vibrancy, and to do our part to ease Californias housing AND environmental crisis (by enhancing walkability and building along existing transit corridors). I for one look forward to the many new neighbors
I will encounter when I walk or bike downtown.
Please vote "yes" to new affordable homes downtown on January 14th.
