Save The Oasis.
I grew up in Palo Alto. My parents met at Dutch Goose, another local institution. I grew up at The Oasis. I also live in North
Fair Oaks (my address says Menlo Park), and I put good money into the businesses in downtown and elsewhere.
It's sad that big money is coming in and taking over, uglyifying (sp?) El Camino. There's an entire lot sitting empty, that used
to be a car dealership, no? The one between The Lab and the Big 5 lot? Why not tear that down? It's a complete eyesore.
Point is, I am all for development, but historical institutions like The Oasis have a right to stay where they are, bringing in
business to the area and such, and not be subject to insane rent raising to kick them out.
Remember Palo Alto Bowl? Remember Su Hong's? Both were other institutions that many, many local people grew up with, that are
sadly gone from El Camino.
Please help fight this. It would be a sad day in the world to lose The Oasis.
