Dear City Council Members,
The number of people living in recreational vehicles in Silicon Valley – a visible demonstration of our regional housing crisis –
is on the rise. In response, local cities have been pressured to increase enforcement of restrictive municipal codes around
parking time limits, vehicle size restrictions and registration violations, while also working to develop action plans focused on
outreach, case management, human services, faith engagement, shelter, and safe parking.
In partnership with Assemblymember Marc Berman (AD-24), SVCF will bring together mayors from San Mateo and Santa Clara counties to
gather input and discuss solutions to individuals and families living in RVs, trailers and other vehicles. The goals of this
briefing and conversation are to:
·Learn and understand the scale of the problem,
·Identify research needs, particularly around impact of local ordinances, and
·Identify local and regional solutions that exist or that we can develop.
This lunch meeting will take place onFriday, May 10, 2019 from 11 a.m. – 2 .p.m., at:
