Members of the City Council,
Now that outdoor dining is no longer allowed, I ask that you reconsider opening the westbound 800 block of Santa Cruz Ave.
The restaurants on the eastbound side have demonstrated that parklets and an open street work well together.
Closing the westbound side has created a dangerous situation, where people bike and even drive the wrong way down the only open lane. And the parking lots are made more hazardous from people cutting through rather than driving around the block and having to make two left turns. There have already been accidents caused by the road closure, and it is only a matter of time before there’s a serious injury.
Why is the city continuing to risk injury and lawsuits to keep the westbound road closed?
