Dear City Council members,
Since I wrote to you about the tragic accident on Valpo Hill, my 16-year old son and I learned yesterday that the teenage driver who died was actually one of my son's classmates at Menlo School. We are all so shaken by his passing.
And so I'm writing to you again simply to offer my help and time and support of the Council's efforts to take a close look at this portion of Valparaiso Avenue and evaluate whether a change should be made to make it safer and prevent this kind of tragedy in the future. I know that there are many parents at Menlo who would support this.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing what the Council decides to do.
Many thanks again for all your hard work on behalf of our city.

Dear City Council,
I am sure you have heard about the tragic accident yesterday on that steep, curvy section of Valparaiso Hill (between Hallmark Circle and Altschul). I was reading the discussion among our city's residents on Menlo Park Next Door and quite a few people mentioned previous accidents at this spot. And I know from running down Altschul that there are many pedestrians, including young children, constantly going up and down that street.
One of our residents, Gregory Smith, proposed on the MP Next Door thread that the City Council consider making that "Valpo Hill" section of Valparaiso Avenue ONE WAY going UP the hill. I think that is an excellent idea and ask that the City Council seriously consider making that portion of the street one way to prevent future accidents of this kind.
Thank you
