Dear City Council Members,
I want to express how encouraged I was by the Jan 30, 2021, City Council Special Goal Setting Meeting hearing Council Members take on the issues raised by the public comments with the sincere goal to assign staff and commissions to investigate these issues in order to come up with viable solutions.
High on my own priority list concerns the goal of improving resident’s quality of life and health. This was addressed by a suggestion put forward by one of the council members to have the EQC Environmental Quality Commission reexamine electric leaf blowers verses gas leaf blowers given that electric leaf blower battery technology has radically improved over the last few years and will continue to. From my research of the major leaf blower manufactures, their advertising claims that their electric battery powered leaf blowers are as powerful as their gas equivalents for both commercial and residential grade leaf blowers. Moreover, after a couple of years of average use, the electric blower is the more economical choice.
I am hopeful the Council will approve this suggestion at their upcoming February 9, meeting.
