Affordable housing proposal

Good afternoon,

I live downtown, and grew up in Menlo Park. I understand the need for affordable housing but think the downtown area can’t afford more traffic. As it is, the parking lots are used and fill up.

I also believe it will affect quality of life for us. I don’t think the area can afford more congestion. It will also affect the last bit of small city charm.

I’m curious as to whether any studies about more traffic have been done. I’ve spoken to people who have businesses downtown, and most seem against the idea. Can Menlo Park downtown afford to lose more businesses?

I’m also wondering if studies have been done about existing property values.

Please consider the Willow Road location as a better option. I’ve lived here my entire life and have watched the area change. It has not all been for the better. I can’t afford to shop downtown as it is.

Please consider the people who have houses downtown. Please consider doing some studies. But please, please don’t overdevelop downtown.

The last time I sent a message, people felt the need to respond forcefully. With all due respect to these folks, I am entitled to my opinion and I doubt if they live downtown.

Lastly, the huge development on the Sunset property will not only be a traffic disaster, it will ruin Linfield Oaks and affect the creek. The idea is ridiculous and frankly insulting to the people who live there.

Sincerely,

Nancy Patrice Davenport
