I just learned that the City of Menlo Park is planning on eliminating the girls' gymnastics competitive program. This is after they dropped the boy’s competitive program. With a world class gymnastics facility in our community, it’s imperative that the City resources such as the City’s Arrillaga Gymnastics Center not go to waste. I strongly suggest that the City begin the bidding process and not have the facility sitting idle. I know that Pam Evans at Gold Star Gymnastics has already written the City and expressed interest in running the program on a contractual basis. Please follow up with her, as she’s is a superb manager and runs a quality recreational and competitive gymnastics team program for both boys and girls. Many of the very popular and highly qualified former gymnastics instructors who once worked for the City of Menlo Park have found success working for this private club and here’s an opportunity to bring them back to the community to teach gymnastics, as contractors working for Gold Star at the City of Menlo Park. Just as the City contracted out the pool program years ago, it’s time to contract out the Gymnastics program for the benefit of the community.
