Honorable City Council,
Congratulations on setting a new course for the road crossings affected by the High Speed Rail operations.
Since the hope of a tunnel is still being reported, I want to make you aware of another tunnel program taking place on the
Peninsula.
In July the Silicon Valley Clean Water will be putting in place a very large tunneling machine in the ground.. It will start the
tunneling near the end of the San Carlos Airport and work its way to 80 feet below the SVCW plant next to the Bay at the end of
Redwood shores
It might be worth the effort for you to direct city staff and the engineers you have contracted to have a discussion with the
manager and engineers of SVCW. I don’t know if the machine is of the right size for a train tunnel, but I do know it is VERY
expensive. It would be worth the effort to see if this large expenditure of citizen funds might serve more than one purpose.
