Please don't close Alma!

Dear City Council and Transportation Committee Members,First, thank you to our service to our city!
Second, I’m writing to implore you not to make the mistake of closing Alma Street again. As a resident of Linfield Oaks, I vividly
remember the experiment the City ran in 2015 when the idea of closing Alma was tested. The test was abandoned after it resulted in
significantly worse traffic delays on Ravenswood Avenue and increased traffic along Laurel.
Of course, I’m not excited about the idea of the city funneling more traffic through our neighborhood. But the impact of closing
Alma would have a negative effect on EVERYONE who uses the main library or gym and everyone who needs to get from the west side of
Menlo Park to neighborhoods east of El Camino and Hwy 101.
We’re already facing increased traffic in Menlo Park, so it boggles my mind to think that the idea of closing down a road that
clearly eases traffic congestion is being seriously considered. The negative impact of this idea was already clearly demonstrated
in the summer of 2015, and I can only imagine how much worse the impact would be year-round with the higher overall traffic loads
on our roads.
Thank you for considering this viewpoint,Amy Arnold312 Sherwood Way
