City Council: We are in full support of the continuation of the street closure program on Santa Cruz Avenue. We applaud the initial test and have admired how restaurant owners have steadily worked to improve their outdoor dining settings and how residents and visitors have responded. It has been one of the most positive downtown enhancements in many years and more time is needed to allow for further innovation from restaurants/businesses and additional adoption by our community.
We also believe that the current vehicle and bike access for the single lane has been a good change from the original model, as it helps with direct access to more businesses while still preserving the benefits of expanded restaurant space in the opposite lane.
