If the downtown is to be a City priority, I suggest the following -
FOR THE DOWNTOWN TO BE A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE:
1. Implement the CalTrain Quiet Zone
FOR THE DOWNTOWN TO BE A BETTER PLACE TO DO BUSINESS:
1. Reconsider the “Main Street Overlay” which currently prohibits non-retail ground floor uses on Santa Cruz Avenue. (This restriction is the reason we have so many vacancies.)
2. Allow people to drive all the way down Santa Cruz Avenue without being diverted through a parking lot.
3. Consider allowing north-bound traffic on the El Camino to turn left onto Santa Cruz Avenue.
4. Keep the streets, plazas, and streetscaping clean and well-maintained.
5. Eliminate any reason to believe that the downtown parking lots will be used for housing.
