Dear members of the city council, I am saddened to learn that the current Menlo Park Library could be changed in any way by the Arrillaga proposal as I feel it is perfect exactly as it is. The Belle Haven Library is a different story. Why not suggest that Mr. Arrillaga deliver more to that community which needs it ever so much more than Menlo Park does? Look at the difference in our school systems! My child lives closer to Ravenswood schools than she does to MPCSD yet she is “privileged enough” to be in the academically superior MPCSD district. Although I haven’t seen the inside of the Ravenswood schools, I’ll bet they need new ones far more than we need a new Main Menlo Park Library! We will be cow-towing to structural racism at its most blatant if we take the Arrillaga proposal as I understand it.
