As the owner of Derby Interiors & Design, located at 850 Santa Cruz Ave, I am writing to express my concern regarding the proposed construction project slated to take place directly behind our building.
I’ve worked at this location for over ten years and have proudly owned the business for the past two. During that time, we’ve become a fixture in the community—something we’ve worked hard to build through consistent service, strong relationships, and an accessible space for our customers.
The construction of a new building behind us would pose serious challenges to our day-to-day operations. In particular, we’re concerned about disruptions to walk-through foot traffic, which is a key part of how customers access our storefront. Additionally, the potential loss or obstruction of parking will directly impact our ability to serve our clients, many of whom rely on that convenience to visit us.
We are not opposed to development, but we believe thoughtful planning must take into account the needs of long-standing small businesses in the area. I ask that you please consider the impact this project will have on our business and explore options that minimize disruption.
