Traffic Congestion in Willows Neighborhood

Dear City Council, My name is Maricela Valencia and I live at 423 Chester Street. We have owned our home since June 1984. We have been happy here. Over the years the traffic has gotten unbearable. Especially with the most recent changes. We can’t get to our house. The drivers cutting through the neighborhood are reckless and rude whether we are in the car or walking in the neighborhood. The most recent changes on Willow Road have worsen the situation. 1. Traffic blocking the left turn lane - WE NEED TO PAINT THE "KEEP CLEAR” SIGN ON THE ROAD AND MAYBE ALSO A STREET SIGN STATING “DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION.” 2. The traffic on Chester out to Willow goes all the way back to Menalto (and probably up Menalto) - for hours starting around 3:30 PM until 7 or 8 PM. We are the first house on Chester and can’t get to our driveway or back out if I have an evening appointment. Cars cutting through do not let us back out. 3. Another new issue is - there is a sign stating you cannot make a U turn on Willow. That has increased dramatically. They don’t care. If they respect the sign then they turn and stop traffic to turn into the lot across the street to make an immediate U turn to get back to Willow. There is more more honking of the horns! 4. When I walk with my disabled daughter, we have to be extra careful because the cut through traffic is going 35, 40 mph or more! 5. My daughter has serious medical issues. My husband has a heart condition. If we need to call 911 - I honestly believe they will not make to our home in time. We need help, this can’t continue. We maintain our home. We take take pride in our neighborhood. A solution needs to be found and fast! Thank you for your time, Maricela Valencia Maricela G.
