Hello,
My name is Josh and I wanted to continue to voice support for the production of affordable houses downtown. I grew up in Menlo Park and graduated from Menlo Atherton in 2019. I love this city more than anywhere else, but unfortunately I can no longer afford to live there. It seems that every few months I hear about another family who I grew up with is priced out of their homes. My friends and I are all hard working university students with jobs as well or graduates that spend their entire weeks working and looking for better employment. None of us feel it is possible to return to our hometown and it is disheartening. We are fortunate enough to have opportunities to live comfortably in other cities, but I would still love to know Menlo Park is looking out for other people. I want to know that Menlo Park is a city that encourages a close and active community. I want baristas, grocery store employees, teachers, many other professions, and students to be able to live within walking distance of where they need to commute. I dont want people that work so hard to have such long commutes with rising gas prices and bridge tolls just to get to their jobs that dont pay enough. I want a community that recognizes their neighbors while walking through a lively downtown and a place where customers know staff by name. I want to thank you deeply for reading my email and I hope the project continues to go through.
