Dear Menlo Park City Council,

I just learned that the city plans to eliminate the Quiet Zone from its budget planning. While you are considering $200,000 for a very unnecessary consultant, this seems incredibly disingenuous. Menlo Park residents and businesses have been advocating for a Quiet Zone for years. The engineering designs are now nearly complete. The last step is funding. Thousands of people are asking for the train horns to stop — and you have the budget surplus and other funding options to move this forward.

We are planning to move from Menlo Park, after 30 years, if we see no move on the quiet zone as we can no longer live with the blaring of train noise. Come spend a week in our home and you will understand. You will lose people who have contributed a great amount to this town. Some of you have told me directly that you would see this through, and I took you for your word. I’m asking you to live up to that.

Thank you,

Sloane and Judy Citron
