Dear City Council,
I’m writing to express my wish that Santa Cruz reopen fully. I think the current traffic flow is negatively affecting some of the businesses towards Santa Cruz and making traffic jams on Menlo Ave and Oak Grove.
Having temporary closures for community events is great, and I think there are several ways to accomplish that without a permanent block.
With the current parklet and parking situation, I think it would be worth looking into the sidewalk widening and parallel parking that Burlingame Avenue did. It transformed the look and feel of Burlingame, still allowing for sidewalk/outdoor seating for restaurants without patchwork parklets. Menlo Park is becoming a hot spot and I think city council should look at ways to facilitate good parking, traffic flow, sidewalks, street lights, and beautification to help the downtown businesses.
