Dear Mayor and Members of the Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing to express my strong support for the establishment of a quiet zone in Menlo Park, and to urge you to prioritize this initiative as a vital enhancement to our communitys quality of life.
As a resident living directly adjacent to the train line, I experience firsthand the frequent noise generated by train horns, particularly during the early morning and late evening hours. While I understand the necessity of safety measures at crossings, I believe that a properly implemented quiet zone-with upgraded safety infrastructure-can effectively balance both community well-being and public safety.
Creating a quiet zone would significantly improve daily life for those of us living near the tracks, as well as our animals, and would make Menlo Park a more peaceful and attractive place to live for all residents. It reflects a thoughtful investment in public wellness, property values, and the overall serenity of our neighborhoods.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and sincerely hope that you will support this important initiative. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can provide any further insight from a residents perspective.
Best Regards,
Dianne Sweeney
