As the city moves forward with initiatives to reimagine policing and public safety in the coming year, here is one of the examples to consider - San Francisco's pilot mental health crisis response service.
In our society, we are used to the idea that there is one type of response that can be dispatched based on a call, and that response is armed police. This is an example where mental health and EMT resources can be dispatched for mental health issues.
