Dear Mayor Combs and City Council Members-
I have lived in Menlo Park since 1995. Until the City Council’s position on
taking over the Menlo Park parking lots I have always had faith in my City
Council.
Besides having to fight for our business owners, it also saddens me that I
am now hearing the whispers of a class action lawsuit against the City of
Menlo Park regarding the City’s insistence in trying to take over the City
Parking lots in Downtown.
I understand that USGS and SRI were not on the table three years ago, but
it is now. I beg you to please stop the threat against the downtown parking
lots (hence the businesses). All the current proposals will put the
businesses out of business and an estimated 2,000 people will lose their
jobs and livelihood.

Please make this right and start supporting the businesses while also
providing the affordable housing needed to meet state requirements though
the USGS and SRI developments.

PS. I lived in the Willows for 24 years and always walked or rode my bike
to downtown Menlo Park. It is good for people and we have created a biking
lifestyle even though we own two cars which are needed for trips outside of
our area. People are always going to have cars. Look at the amazing transit
system in Japan and their roads are still packed with cars. Realistic goals
can be helpful.
