Dear Mayor and Council, You are invited to propose a presentation ? full, short, or Pecha Kucha ?for the 56th IMCL Conference on A Healthy City for ALL that will take place in Portland, Oregon, June 17-21, 2019. If you missed the previous announcement you may be pleased to learn that the deadline has been extended to November 15. If your city has achieved great things, but you do not wish to make a presentation yourself, you may like to alert your planning staff. They will also be able to submit a project for the Design Awards Competition. How can the built and natural environment make the city healthier? We invite you to share your city?s most successful recent work in these areas: ? community public places ? planning for active mobility ? 10-minute neighborhood urban planning ? human scale, high density, mixed use urban fabric ? affordable housing, housing the homeless ? accessible nature and healthy food Since the poorest neighborhoods still suffer the greatest health problems we are especially looking for innovative designs and strategies to rein in housing commodification, prevent or slow gentrification, and end homelessness!
