Additional Note Regarding No on Tenant Relocation Assistance

Dear Honorable Council Members, There is one additional subject that is very closely related to high rents in our area. It is the lack of housing. There is compelling evidence that the state of California is on its way to becoming more than 50% a renter state. Please see the attached slides from a presentation made In January to my firm by Leslie Appleton Young, the California Association of Realtors economist. You have the ability to approve additional housing units in Menlo Park. Density where it makes sense (close to transit corridors) is in your sights with Facebook and other developers. I hope you will continue to make great strides to create more housing. Traffic management should be a focal point of any additional housing and I hope the Council will be focussed and creative with how cars can move quickly through our city as part of any new housing development. The proposed tenant relocation assistance proposal is not where the city of MP should be focussing its energies. This is only a bandaid and a bad one at that. I hope you will focus on the root of the problem.
