I understand that the City Council is considering the ban of e-cigarettes within the city. I am not a smoker myself, and I am appalled by the deaths associated with vaping devices in the U.S. and how addictive properties of nicotine may hook children into a potentially deadly practice. A recent episode of the NPR podcast, http://freakonomics.com/podcast/vaping-nicotine/ provided me with additional information that suggests a more nuance approach to vaping regulation may be in order, one based on science and the experience of the U.K in regulating e-cigarettes. You may also find the episode to informative. Should an outright ban on sales be your decision, I’m okay with that, even though it seems that other approaches also hold promise.
