Menlo Park City Council Members, I'm a resident of the Linfield Oaks neighborhood and have lived in Menlo Park for 4 years. I recently noticed that Atherton has a new fiber Internet provider https://www.athertonfiber.com/ > that is being rolled out, and I was wondering if there were any potential efforts to bring fiber internet to Menlo Park as well. Currently Comcast effectively has a monopoly on home broadband internet in Menlo Park and it shows in pricing and service level. Comcast appears to be charging up to 2x for internet only plans in Menlo Park vs. other communities and there have been several Menlo-specific service outages in the past year. Choice and competition are important so residents can have the best service and fair pricing. For something as essential as high speed internet, it's frustrating as a Menlo Park resident that we don't have that right now. I'm curious if the City Council has heard this concern before and if any efforts might be underway to try and address it. Thank you for your consideration.
