Greetings and thanks so much for your service to this city. I have a conflict that prevents me from attending this evening but I wanted to share my thoughts with you all. My name is Rev. Teirrah McNair, a resident and a pastor who rents the community room for our Fountain of Life GCM worship services. My church also hosts a prayer table at the Center every Thursday since October of 2018. In my interface with the seniors I have had the privilege to hear their hearts, their worries, their hopes and their fears. The Senior Center has become for many a gathering place where they can enjoy inexpensive hot meals, support, encouragement, fellowship, classes and tap into needed resources as well. More than anything else the Center is a lifeline that gives them a reason to get up in the morning. As wonderful an idea as the rebuilding of the Center is, it has the potential during the construction phase to cut off seniors from the stability they have become accustomed to. Because of their vulnerability and the present-day threats of declining health, social security cuts, displacement and scams, I am hoping that the city these seniors have lived and invested greatly in will treat them with the grace and tender loving care they are due. The best possible plan for the interim would capture the essence of what they are receiving now with no loss. The temporary relocation can continue to be a source of respite if programming and personnel remain the same. I trust that you will do all you can to preserve what our seniors are accustomed to during the transition. Thanks so much. Pastor Teirrah McNair Sent from Mail for Windows 10
