Dear City Council: The four lane stretch of El Camino Real in Menlo Park is my least favorite stretch of El Camino. I avoid it, and as a consequence, businesses near it. Narrowing it down to four lanes causes major traffic jams during busy and non-busy times and during the constant construction you have allowed on El Camino. This morning there was a serious potential emergency problem. I was in gridlock going south when an ambulance with lights and sirens tried unsuccessfully to get through. There was absolutely no room. The ambulance driver did what he had to do, he was in an intersection and went south on the north bound lane of El Camino. It was scary. I am not faulting them, they had to do what they had to do. I am faulting City Council allowing this potential problem to exist. This is not the first time I have seen an ambulance have trouble. Last year an ambulance with lights and sirens on was trapped and could not move because we car drivers could not move. You need to make the El Camino a better roadway and perhaps have traffic control people periodically there to ease traffic woes. Sincerly yours, Gus Dedo Received on Fri Feb 28 2020 - 15:38:38 PST
