Thank you for todays Annual Public Works Open House

Dear Mayor, Vice Mayor, councilmembers, staff, and The Chief,

I attended the annual public works open house today and had to convey my
gratitude.

I personally enjoyed stopping by each booth to discuss a wide range of
important topics and services the city provides. The staff working the
booths were specialists in their field and were engaging. Each booth had a
different way to immerse yourself in the subject like building an edible
road, seeing how a water meter works, or throwing little pieces of poop
into a toilet. It was very fun and impactful for both parents and kids.
Getting a free hardback book was impressive. The seating in the shade by
the Arborists was very helpful. And seeing the new Police car was exciting!

Most importantly, I enjoyed the fruit cart! That was literally the best
fruit combo snack Ive ever had! Where is the mind blown emoji? Our son and
I were delighted to savor each bite for the rest of the afternoon. The
churros were also a big hit. I highly recommend we hire them to come back
to each event or share their contact information, so we can use them for
Baseball games at Burgess etc.

Lastly, although I expressed my gratitude at the event, I wanted to be sure
I wrote it down for the record. We literally have The Best staff. I work
with several different cities and counties because of my job. We are a
small city but still have to manage all the same needs of residents and
stakeholders like a larger municipality. That is difficult. Ive come to
appreciate the impact each of our Menlo Park staff has on our community.
But I also want to apologize to our amazing staff. Sometimes, my fellow
neighbors are not as understanding or appreciative. They get angry, shout,
and act unprofessional. That is not okay, but it does happen. Please speak
up if something unacceptable is happening or you feel a boundary was
crossed. Know that residents like me see and love you. If there is anything
residents can do to improve your quality of life, I want to hear about it.
Retaining you is an important goal of mine. Im glad you are here and I
hope you will stay!

All my best love,

Jenny from the Coleman Place Neighborhood Block (aka apartment row)
