Dear Mayor and Councilmembers,
As a Menlo Park resident, an architect, and someone who swims at Burgess Park every morning, I am writing in support of Lane Partners’ Parkline development. Having worked on other large scale developments in sensitive areas, I can see the care the project team has put into respecting the scale of the surrounding neighborhood, while opening up a campus that has been largely closed off for decades. I believe the proposal represents a positive step forward for our community.
Our city has an opportunity to place thoughtfully designed density where it belongs—next to the Menlo Park Caltrain station. Concentrating housing and workplaces with a direct line to San Francisco and San Jose should reduce car dependency, will better support the struggling businesses on Santa Cruz Ave, and will create a range of housing that gives younger families an opportunity to live and contribute to the economy in Menlo Park.
Parkline demonstrates a vision that aligns with these principles, and I encourage the Council to move it forward.
Sincerely,
Chris McAnneny
Menlo Park Resident
