Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I live just over the border in Palo Alto and am following with interest the
debate about enabling additional housing in Menlo Parks downtown area.
This is a transit-rich area with the Caltrain station and SamTrans buses
nearby as well as bike-friendly streets.
Addressing climate change and building more housing near transit are
important issues to me. I hope you can navigate local resistance to the
loss of parking and low income housing. Many residents who want to drive to
the downtown shopping area could use electric cargo bikes instead, and the
new residents might not need 2 cars in each household because of the access
to transit and bike lanes.
