Mayor Combs and City Council,
I am highly skeptical of the Downtown Parking Plazas Citizens’ Initiative.
Menlo Park’s downtown, depends on the access provided by the parking plazas
because prior developement has forced people to live where they must travel
by car rather than on foot or by using another mass transit solution. A
decision to repurpose those lots to include parking, more commercial or
office space and housing should be made.
Adopting the ordinance outright, placing it on the November ballot, or
calling a special election, will put another nail in the coffin of downtown
Menlo Park.
I dont know who the people who created *Save Downtown Menlo* are, but I
think it is telling that they have chosen to hide behind this facade.
It is also clear to me that if this were to go to a plebiscite, that the
developer would take this case to the state and Menlo Park would lose the
ability to have input on how this development is designed.
Thank you for knowing better than to listen to the fear driven hsyteria put
forward by *Save Downtown Menlo*,
