It is with a very heavy heart that I read that the Menlo Park Police has given K9 Duke an early retirement. For six years myself and many others have followed Sgt Soares and Duke. We have seen first hand, not only taking drugs off the street, but the community service they do. My God they were on National TV promoting the same department who wants to let him go. How could that be?
At a time when our Police Departments are going through some troubled times, Menlo Park had a shinning star. (and all of the Brothers and Sisters of the Department) In our current environment we all need to be able to look up to our police officers and staff. How can this be taken away? How can a dog be a deterrent to a community and the department?
Norris has no idea what this means. Have you really researched this dog and handler?
The love and outreach to this duo is just phenomenal. I pray that many others have extended their concerns.
I may not live in Menlo Park, but, I am hoping the community comes together and lets the department know how outrages this is.
I hope I am just one in many who feels this way. God Bless Sgt. Soares and K9 Duke
