Dear City Council Members,
I am writing in support of removing the parking spaces on University Drive at Rose Ave and Millie Ave. Due to Covid I have been working from home (912 Rose Ave) for 2 years. My home office overlooks the corner of Rose Ave and University Drive. Monday through Friday I often watch near-misses at this intersection as the line of sight is difficult for drivers. I’ve also witnessed a child on a bicycle being hit by a car due to a car encroaching onto University to see past the parked cars.
During school hours, Rose Ave becomes very busy. Families drop off / pick up kids from Menlo School in front of our house. Rose Ave is also used as a short cut when Valparaiso backs up. For the clients of 1300 University, they park on Rose Avenue in front of our house when the parking lot is full. If the University Drive street parking is removed, clients of 1300 University can continue to park on Rose Ave and use the whole street, if needed.
