I saw a notice on Nextdoor that many beautiful heritage trees are to be removed because they interfere with development of a project. That is absolutely disgusting. This is especially so given the fact that Menlo Park claims to be a tree city and its logo is an oak tree. Shame on Public Works and Shame on the developer. Parts of Menlo Park are beginning to look like Redwood City: high rises everywhere, yet many residential properties have "For lease" signs up on apartment buildings, and the city has a huge unhoused population. It is also reprehensible that should someone file an appeal, they apparently have to do it for each tree and pay a fee for each tree. That makes it impossible for any individual to appeal this crazy proposal.
