Dear Mayor, Vice Mayor, Council Members, and City Staff,
I am writing to support action to finalize the design of the Middle Avenue
Pedestrian and Bicycle Rail Crossing project so that it can be shovel ready
when additional funding is secured.
Having this crossing in place will provide a vital connection between the
neighborhoods of Menlo Park and will make it easier and safer for people to
access schools and services on both sides of the tracks.
My daughter was hit by a car while biking to M-A, so anything we can do to
make our streets safer is important to me. Had the Middle Ave Crossing been
in place, her route to M-A would have been much safer. While we cant go
back in time, we can set up conditions so that our current and future
generations can be safe while traveling to and from school and the amazing
services that we have here in Menlo Park.
