Dear Mayor and Members of the Menlo Park City Council:
As a long-time residents of Menlo Park and the Willows, we are very
concerned about the Sunset/N17 proposal. We urge you not to rush this
project and to continue a careful, independent review. The Attorney
General’s letter shouldn’t be treated as the final word.
Before October 27, we hope the City fully explores its legal options and
long-term impacts. We are especially worried about the scale of the
development and how it could affect traffic, noise, air quality, drainage,
trees, the historic landscape, and surrounding neighborhoods. And while
affordable housing is important, we are concerned that the large amount of
new office, retail, and hotel space will add jobs faster than housing,
which could worsen our jobs-housing imbalance. *Finally, please hold a
public hearing before any final decision, so residents have a meaningful
chance to be heard. *
