Council members:
Tonight I, and other speakers, assumed that with such an important issue as FINANCIAL FEASIBILITY, you would want to hear at least 3 minutes of opinion, as was customary in the past.
Tonight, to my surprise, and at the last minute, you announced a shorter 1.5 minute speaking limit!
30 speakers = saved 45 minutes
WHY ? ? ? ?
I prepared a very short 3 minutes of advice.
I was cut off in the middle of my speech, which contained important information that needed to be heard; especially by you, the "NO" speakers and their supporters.
I gave my written 3 minute speech and exhibits to your staff (Judith Herron?)
Please read it and email me your responses to my questions:
Explain in writing why, point by point, you are ignoring the warnings of FAILURE, voiced from the "YES" speakers.
For example: Explain how you will resolve valid Discrepancies in the estimates of the magnitude of the financial gaps, particularly in the cost of a ramp.
When will the "Comprehensive Transportation and Circulation Plan be reviewed by the public?
Council Member Schmidt said " Im not inclined to vote to approve ANY project. . . . Without it !
Explain in writing why you are:
Ignoring the precedent, established by the 2/18/2010 Shute letter AND Mayor Richard Cline and the Menlo Park City Council acknowledging the RiGHT to VOTE, by the property owners, before changing the Parking Plazas?
Ignoring the San Jose Fay Apartment foreclosure, due to "not enough parking"?
Ignoring the Fact that the RHNA does NOT need the downtown apartments & Ramp to comply with the state?
Question:
Have you included 80 Willow tower in the RHNA, and the additional housing that will now be built at 80 Willow?
Also,
Tell me when (was it tonight?) and at what time you decided to reduce speaker time from 3 minutes to 1.5 minutes;
And why did you decide that;
And how was the public notified in advance.
It appears that you Do Not want to Hear (or accept) Negative Facts and you Do Not Want the public to hear them either.
You are losing the trust of too many of your voters.
I am VERY DISAPPOINTED!
