Hello- I am writing to you on behalf of Tobias and Liliana and their sweet adorable dog Bär. He is a classic good-natured Golden Retriever. I have seen him in settings where there are many people and children milling about. He is obedient, sits on command and is patient while his owner talks to others.
The more I have learned about this situation, the more I realize that a false set of facts were presented since day one. How this has escalated and landed in your laps is a travesty. The punishment ordered by the Humane Society is because the agency has taken the testimony of one party.
The precedent that anyones dog could be labeled "dangerous" if one neighbor is set on creating a world of hurt is frightening. The fact that Cleo the Malamute on Walnut & Central killed a cat and a dog, and almost killed another dog, just goes to show you how arbitrary and capricious Animal Control is. Bär is not your example in which to set a precedent. This is outrageous and over the top, to support the Humane Societys arbitrary findings is wrong.
The complaint by one party does not and should not lead to official action. In the absence of a large amount of complaints, this case should be dismissed.
Please do not enforce such a drastic penalty on Bär and his family when there has been no reliable evidence that this Golden Retriever is anything but a typical Golden Retriever: calm, loving, and fun and some may argue, me being one, the darn cutest dog you’ll ever see.
