Hi - I am writing to express my support for Solo swim to continue operating at the Burgess Pool and to have the contract revised in such a way that ensures that. Our children have learned to swim confidently in this program when other swim lessons offered through other programs weren’t able to teach our children proper pool safety or proper ways to swim to save themselves if ever necessary. Additionally, the swim lessons offered through the city through other venues are usually full with a long waitlist. This leaves many families with few options. Burgess needs the diversity of swim schools in order to best serve the needs of the people who live here. The community within SOLO is positive and uplifting. The children are able to enjoy a swimming experience that is not overly competitive but rather focuses on the love of swimming and learning proper technique. For the swimmers who enjoy a competitive approach - SOLO will accommodate, but they do not impose it on every child. Our kids love the SOLO community and improving their skills without the heavy hand of constant competition. Participation in SOLO is an important part of our lives and helps us feel more connected to the community in a positive, uplifting, and meaningful way.
