I have been a Menlo Park resident for the past 15 years. Currently, I feel that COVID is our number one priority and our second priority is climate change. It is hard at the moment to recognize that Climate change is becoming worse than we ever feared and that the horrible effects of climate change is mounting against us at a quick and alarming rate seeing that we are fighting to save lives from COVID. COVID clearing was our focus in year 2020 and COVID must continue to be our focus in year 2021 as this global pandemic is devastating.
But just as we were all shocked at the low quantity of masks for first line workers and the public; the low amount of PPE equipment across the healthcare industry; and the low number of available ventilators, we must act now to prioritize climate change so that we are not faced with being caught ill prepared just as we have seen time and time again how ill prepared the world was with facing/responding to the global COVID pandemic. We were caught flat footed without available N95 masks because people did not take appropriate action.
Thank you for taking responsibility for your citizens when you adopted the bold action plan in year 2020. PLEASE, please continue to be a thoughtful, educated leader by prioritizing the bold Climate Action plan in year 2021
