My family and I are writing to emphasize that the city council should prioritize establishing Quiet Zones for trains in Menlo Park. I am a resident at 1436 San Antonio St, Menlo Park, CA 94025.
Pros and rationale: It would dramatically increase the quality of life for residents living, businesses working, and pedestrians close to the trains. One secondary benefit is a likely increase in attractiveness for spending time close to homes and businesses near the tracks.
Further support: The train horns are completely unnecessary if safe zones are established. I have lived next to multiple other railways in my lifetime and horns were seldom, if ever, sounded by the trains. I never recall any accidents from rail crossings.
Please establish Menlo Park Quiet Zones and STOP THE TRAIN HORNS.
