Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
It is my understanding that you are considering establishing a train Quiet Zone near the major intersections. I emphatically support this idea! I have lived in the Linfield Oaks neighborhood for 30 years. The past few years, the train noise has been significantly worse. What used to be a faint whistle in the background has now become incessant and extremely loud train whistle blasts. It is hard to understand why has changed and/or the benefit of constant train blasts, especially at night. They can go on for 30 seconds or more of continuous blasts. And the freight trains even more so.
There is no doubt that this amplified noise has degraded what was once a very quiet, tranquil neighborhood. I urge you to consider pursuing a Quiet Zone in Menlo Park to improve our quality of life.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue!
Regards,
John Henze
