Hello all, The recent picture in the Almanac of the building proposed on Santa Cruz where Union Bank is located was distressing. I understand that change is hard and losing our village character is sad, but some of the pain could be mitigated by putting up buildings that have character, style, and some semblance of conformity. I believe downtown Palo Alto has done this well. Their buildings are easy on the eyes, interesting, lovely, and have a uniformity. The above mentioned building on Santa Cruz has none of this. I'm concerned that all of the buildings being planned will follow similar suit. Is there no recourse? Can we not ask for more architectural pleasing uniform buildings that might continue to provide a village feel rather than a suburbanized anywhere USA look that is occurring in RWC and South Palo Alto on El Camino corridor? Yes, it is hard to ask for changes and make different zoning restrictions, but these buildings will be here a long time!
