Dear council members,
When I hear the idea of increasing water rates to “ save” water due to drought conditions I find the idea unfair and discriminatory.
Those who have the discretionary funds to pay the increase and do not care about the cost will use water as usual, not saving water. Not all of us have the funds or the “extra water” to cut back.
If anyone, like myself, is conscious about water usage all the time cutting back on water is difficult. So what is given up?
I water my small garden, 200 sq. ft. of lawn, carefully, as needed, not automatically by a controller. I fill a bucket with water with every shower to water my garden pots. With covid 19 I now wash masks that adds to the usage and cost.
Is there some other way to address the water usage issue that is fair to all?
