Hello City Council of Menlo Park,
As a 26 year resident of Menlo Park, I frequent downtown MP to visit my
hair salon, donate to the Discovery Shop, shop at numerous stores and dine
at several restaurants. Invariably, I have to drive around the block a
couple times to find an available parking spot.
I am of the opinion that should you remove the existing parking lots and
spaces, you will be doing a tremendous disservice to not only the local
shop owners and restaurants who will go out of business due to lack of
patronage but also the community as a whole. Downtown will become a
wasteland as shop owners close their doors and cancel their leases.
PLEASE listen to the community majority and build the low income housing
closer to the train tracks near CIty Hall, not in the heart of the city
where we hope to encourage visitors and shoppers, not discourage their
patronage.
Best,
