Dear Menlo Park Council Members,
As a person who works downtown Menlo Park for the Stephen Miller Gallery, I’m asking you to please consider the livelihoods of all of the people who are employed downtown. We love working here and being a part of this lovely community. If this measure goes through you will be destroying our livelihoods as we would have to close our businesses. There would no longer be a viable down town for the citizens of Menlo Park.
There would also be tremendous chaos and noise while the buildings were being built and no parking for our wonderful clients. Stephen Miller has been on Santa Cruz Avenue for over 35 years and would be forced to leave.
If any of you on the council have ever put your whole heart, soul and resources into a small business, then you would know what I’m talking about. Everyone who has come in to sign the petition in our showroom is quite unhappy that our parking lots are even a consideration to put up an 8 to 10 story building, especially when there are so many other viable locations for the low income housing that is needed.
It would also be a tremendous hardship for the fire department to get into and out of these locations in an emergency.
Please reconsider your fateful decision.
Sincerely,
Lainey Pizanis
