Over the weekend, the contractor built speed bumps INSIDE THE BIKE LANES on
Middle Avenue. Thats not a typo - the bike lanes now have 5 speed bumps,
that will cause young children to lose their balance on bikes. But, even
worse, when people using devices with small wheels (like motorized
skateboards or scooters) hit those bumps, they will go flying off those
devices , may fracture their jaws, teeth and cheekbones, and may get hit by
a car.
Putting speed bumps (and speed tables) in traffic lanes is controversial,
but putting speed bumps (or speed tables) in bike lanes is HIGHLY DANGEROUS
and serves no useful purpose, other than to provide patients for the local
emergency rooms.
Please immediately remove the speed bumps and speed tables from the bikes
lanes on Middle Avenue. To prevent cars from veering out of traffic lanes
into the bike lane to avoid the speed bumps (and speed tables), a few
pylons will solve that problem.
