Dear Mayor Nash and Members of the City Council,
I am writing to express my support for Meredith Rohr for appointment as Planning Commissioner.
Meredith is a resident of District 1 in the Belle Haven neighborhood and has demonstrated a strong commitment to our community. She volunteers as a swim coach for the Race Swami Team, a program in which my niece participates. Through this work, she has shown dedication to supporting local youth and families.
Belle Haven has faced longstanding inequities. As Menlo Park advances its Environmental Justice Element and broader equity efforts, representation from historically underrepresented neighborhoods matters. If we believe in the Environmental Justice Element, we need equal representation. Meredith is from District 1, and there is currently no Planning Commissioner representing our district.
She regularly participates in meetings and community activities with organizations such as Belle Haven Action, Belle Haven Empowered, Climate Resilient Communities, and the Belle Haven Neighborhood Association. Meredith also attends City Council meetings in person or via Zoom. She has been actively involved in the Pool Task Force meetings, where she has provided thoughtful input informed by her background in swimming and her strong commitment to equity.
Meredith is also engaged in voting rights work, volunteering to canvass and register voters to increase participation in the upcoming midterm election, including within Belle Haven. Therefore, our community can have a stronger voice in local decisions.
For these reasons, I respectfully support Meredith Rohr’s appointment to the Planning Commission. Thank you for your consideration and for your continued service to our community.
Sincerely,
Eduardo L. Hernandez
Menlo Park District 1 Resident (26 years)
