Re: Heritage redwoods at El Camino and Ravenswood

Thank you for your email. I had sent an email myself although it wasn’t as eloquent as Nancy’s. But I fear you have mixed up Janet (me) and Nancy (the person who wrote the email below). Thanks! And let’s try to save those trees! They prevent climate change! Go green! ?? Sent from my iPhone > On Jan 4, 2019, at 3:36 PM, Murphy, Justin I C > > Hello Nancy, > > Thank you for your email. I am writing to you and others that have expressed an interest in the removal of 7 redwood trees at 1000 El Camino Real. We want to let you know that City staff will be hosting a public forum next Tuesday, January 8th at 4 p.m. at City Hall for any member of the public that is interested in learning more about this topic. This informal meeting will serve as a forum to have a dialogue about the removals and answer any questions. > > I also wanted to let you know that the 7 trees in question are adjacent to the trees at the corner of the property that are adorned with holiday lights each year. The trees with holiday lights will remain. > > Best regards, > Justin > > > > Justin I. C. These are lovely trees, full, lush, brilliant green and healthy. Most redwoods away from the coast are spindly and dry but this group, especially when lit at Christmas, are near perfect and a real treat to the eye. Please do not permit their destruction. The fact that 14 new trees are being offered as a replacement would be like substituting a clump of shrubs for a majestic oak and calling it an even trade. > > There has got to be a better way of addressing a leaking parking garage than destroying these trees. > > Respectfully, > > Nancy Borgeson > Laurel Street, Menlo Park.
